Lasst euch das mal auf der Zunge zergehen: 100 Songs in knapp 22 Minuten. Ich höre die Leute schon wieder schreien, dass dabei nichts gutes rauskommen kann, und es grundsätzlich scheiße ist. Sicherlich wird den meisten Leuten die neue AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED so rein gar nicht gefallen, doch wer Frozen Corpse Stuffed with Dope – meiner Meinung nach, das beste Grindcore-Album des letzten Jahres, selbst wenn es lange gedauert hat, zu dieser Erkenntnis zu gelangen – in sein Herz geschlossen hat, wird auch für Altered States of America, den konsequenten Nachfolger töten wollen.
100 Songs sind es so gesehen nicht mal, denn vieles hängt an diesem Album einfach zusammen, so dass gut und gerne 15 Songs auf einer anderen Scheibe als ein Track gehandelt werden würde. Dadurch ist diese Mini-CD (im wahrsten Sinn des Wortes, Altered States of America ist eine 3-CD) genießbar geworden. Von brachialstem und kältestem Geprügel in Lichtgeschwindigkeit bis hin zu kranken Samples und verstörenden elektronischen Passagen fahren AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED das volle Brett auf, noch konsequenter als auf ihrem letzten Output. Die Grindcore-Passagen sind so dermaßen krass, dass es fast weh tut. Der steril, aber realistisch wirkende Drumcomputer ist perfekt programmiert, so dass man sich eigentlich gar nicht aufregen dürfte. Und das Geschrei der Herren Randall, Johnson und Schultz? Tja, es geht durch Mark und Bein. Genau das meine ich immer mit Harmonizer machen die Musik nicht krass. Ich denke, es ist sinnlos groß Anspieltipps zu nennen bei Songs, die im Durchschnitt gerade mal 10 zehn Sekunden dauern. Allerdings ist der erste elektronische Ausflug sehr verstörend und wirkt im Zusammenhang mit den folgenden Twelve Days of Sodom doppelt krass.
Krass sind auch wieder mal die Texte, denn Scott Hull und seine Gefolgschaft lassen keine Gelegenheit zu knochentrockener Provokation durch vermeindlichen Sexismus, Rassismus und Homophobie aus, so dass sich die P.C.-Leute wieder ziemlich aufregen werden, doch der geballte Zynismus kommt zusammen mit ihrer herrlichen Selbstironie (Scott Hulk on Intramuscular Steroids) immer wieder sehr schön ans Tageslicht, so dass solche Vorwürfe ungerechtfertigt sind. Besonders schön ist der Text zu Black Metal Transvestite, den sicherlich wieder 1000 Leute in den falschen Hals kriegen und AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED den Tod wünschen.
Wer mal wieder die wirklich extreme Dröhnung braucht, wem Bands wie NASUM, NAPALM DEATH und BENÜMB zu weich sind und wer auch Elektro nicht abgeneigt ist, für den stellt Altered States of America ein absolutes Pflichtwerk dar. Und selbst wer die Band hasst muss zugeben, dass diese Musik die vielleicht brutalste der Welt ist.
